Short Bio

Mert is a senior PhD candidate with research at the intersection of large-scale applications, high-performance computing, and software systems.

His work is on software tools for optimization of sparse/unstructured data accesses and communications on hierarchical interconnect architectures.

The main motivation of Mert is providing necessary functions and primitives to enable large-scale applications on the upcoming exascale computers-Frontier, Aurora, El Capitan-involving multi-GPU nodes.

In his free time, Mert likes to ride bike.

Other than that, Mert works at The Impact Research Group directed by Wen-mei Hwu. Mert is also a member at IBM-Illinois Center for Cognitive Computing Research (C3SR) and Semiconductor Research Corporation (SRC) center for Application Driven Architecture (ADA).

Mert's work won the best paper award at SC20, named the graph challenge champion at HPEC20, and awarded with the 2021 ACM/IEEE-CS George Michael Memorial HPC Fellowship.
